Thursday, March 6: Guided Trek @ Betsy Kerrison Nature Area
10am-12pm, 4360 Betsy Kerrison Parkway, Johns Island
Space is limited. Registration is required. Free to attend.
Collie and Morgan Farah will lead a guided walk among the maritime forest, saltmarsh, and hummock island habitats of Johns Island. They will discuss recent land preservation along Betsy Kerrison Parkway, the significance of protecting natural habitat within the Kiawah River Watershed, and the habitat restoration efforts on our Betsy Kerrison Parkway properties.
This tour will begin in the parking lot and will continue with a trek through the undeveloped forest and saltmarshes to access the hummock islands. Because the properties do not have cleared walking trails or boardwalks, it is highly recommended to wear hiking boots for this walk. The group will meet at 4360 Betsy Kerrison Parkway, the site of the former Rosebank Farmstand.
Monday, March 10: Guided Bike Tour and Nature Walk @ Marsh Island Park
10am-12pm, Marsh Island Park CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

The Conservancy’s sr. ecological health and conservation coordinator, Lee Bundrick, will guide participants on a bike ride to Marsh Island Park and walk among the park's maritime forest, saltmarsh, and hummock island habitats. The group will meet at the bike pavilion in The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort parking lot (1 Sanctuary Beach Drive, Kiawah Island). Bikes will be provided courtesy of Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
From The Sanctuary, Lee will guide you on a 2.5-mile bike ride to Marsh Island Park. As you walk through the park, you will learn about land conservation efforts and the ecological significance of the natural habitats. Your walking tour will culminate at the lookout tower where you’ll have a chance to take pictures of the beautiful marsh and vast extent of the Kiawah Conservancy’s protected lands in this area.
Thursday, March 20: Guided Nature Walk @ The Preserve FULL
1pm-3pm, The Preserve (Grey Widgeon Lane Parking Lot)
Space is limited. Registration is required. Free to attend.
Join the Conservancy’s sr. ecological health and conservation coordinator, Lee Bundrick, on a walk among the maritime forest, saltmarsh, and lagoon habitats within The Preserve. This walk will begin with a discussion about the Naturally Kiawah Recognition Program and how you can improve the ecological health in your yard. You will then walk the 1-mile trail through The Preserve, ending at the lookout tower where you’ll have a chance to take pictures and soak in the natural beauty of the area. The group will meet in the parking lot off of Grey Widgeon.
Monday, March 24: Guided Kayak Tour @ Mingo Point
9am-11am, Mingo Point (876 Kiawah Island Parkway)

Join the Conservancy's restoration and enhancement specialist Sean Cannon and Kiawah Island Golf Resort Nature Program Manager Christian Carter for a guided kayak tour along the tranquil Kiawah River. Paddle through winding salt marshes, immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of coastal wildlife, and learn about the important restoration efforts in the area. This tour offers a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation, while providing knowledgeable insights into the ecology of our sea islands. The group will meet at the kayak dock (far left-hand side, when entering) at Mingo Point. Must be 18+ to participate, tandem kayaks only. Kayaks will be provided courtesy of Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
